What a joy to celebrate this sweet girl! The invitations were really fun to do on powerpoint!
Here's the beauty herself. Ever since we read the Kane Chronicles, she's been in love with the history and culture of Ancient Egypt. Since the baby is coming, I wanted to make sure she had a birthday party... so we celebrated a little early!
We started off by making Egyptian Sand Necklaces. I totally lucked out... pardon me, I know it's not luck. God just loves me. And found packs of 3 necklaces at Michael's on clearance for 30 cents. All the other sand was on clearance too ranging from 50 cents to 79 cents. SCORE! It turned out to be the favorite party activity. Thanks mom for making sure sand didn't get in anyone's eyes!!

Next up was mummifying barbies! I found a big lot for cheap at the thrift store. The kids got to draw hieroglyphs on the barbies with sharpies, spray perfume on them, cut their hair, and then wrap them with a torn sheet. I put a water/flour mixture if they wanted their mummies to harden. They were so excited to destroy the barbies!! I even told Charlie he could take off the head if he wanted to. We also had some clay that they could make amulets for the barbies. They really enjoyed spraying perfume. I'm glad we did it outside! And talk about blessed!! What beautiful weather we had, a little chilly but still able to go out!!
Maria really wanted to do a book walk. I hoarded for a few weeks. We got some free Egypt themed books at Grassroots books from our Black Friday Trip and a couple from Savers!! Of course, we walked to Walk Like an Egyptian.
I love being able to send home lots of goodies with the children! Next up was a game of Jingo. I googled some images and made up clues. I really really really... can't even begin to express how much I love having Maria shout out all the answers! Her memory is crazy!!
We all had a tomb treasure hunt. What I did was have 4 little golden tombs with an Egyptian joke. Then I gave all the kids a hieroglyph key. They had the answer and had to match the answer with the right tomb to get the treasure. I was surprised at how well everyone did. I only had one kid say it was too hard and putz out. Isn't there always one?
Time to eat!! As per Maria's request we had Port of Subs. My dad was brilliant and cut all the sandwiches in half!!! There was a lot less waste!!! We had chips, fruit salad... and of course plenty of sweets! Maria request red velvet cake! We got our cupcake toppers at Michael's with a 40% off coupon.
We had 15 friends and 2 toddlers. We were glad our Yaya Sofia and Aunty Tobi were able to make it. Papa and Yaya are staples. Everyone is always just so helpful!! The older girls were JEWELS!! They took little ones on the tomb hunt and showed them what to do. They passed out food. It was a great group of friends!! Maria also didn't want to invite boys, except for... of course, Charlie. Good thing Charlie is a good sport! She also invited a little boy from school who has downs but he couldn't make it. I love her stories about him and how they are always giving each other compliments. He loves to hug her so she's always in 7th heaven with him!
The sarcophagus was filled with her favorite... butterfingers!
We are always so spoiled by friends and family!! Talk about some great presents!!
Mommy found the last Diary of a Wimpy Kid book we needed.... 25 cents. Woo!!!
She opened our gift first because she had an inkling.....
I love how kids are always so interested in what the present will be!
Oh my goodness!! What well mannered friends!! Everyone was so genuinely kind, thoughtful, and considerate. All the children were saying thank you and telling me how excited they were for all their goodies! They couldn't believe they got to keep it all!
Can I just say, I love how Mya can keep up with all the big girls. And she NEVER EVER whines! She's the coolest 3 year old ever.
It was nice to meet some friend's moms from school. What really nice women!
Yaya!!!! Papa!!! So FUN!!! Maria was excited for her new snow cone machine and popcorn machine!!
We heart the T's!! We always have such a blast with their family. And I love how Tyler is always right there helping and volunteering.
Drumroll please..... Aunty Ram got Maria exactly what she wanted!!! A NEW PET FISH!!! And all the trimmings!! We are so excited to welcome a new addition to the family. I can't wait to see what she'll name the fish. Expect a blog post soon.
Also, Aunty Tobi got Maria a tablet!!! I have no clue what a tablet is but Maria was SUPER excited!!
And it looks really expensive. TOBI!!!! You're awesome!!!
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH EVERYONE!!!
The After Party. Such a rush. I love the mess and destruction. I really do!!!
Papa and Joe to the rescue.... 6 loads of garbage?? Or 7??
We had some extra barbies leftover and the girls were very excited. It was spa time in the sandwich tray. Such a fun party!!!
