Sept. 27- Brazen Auburn Half

For my birthday I requested that everyone come to my race, and they did. And the only reason I got 2nd in my age bracket was because they were cheering me on at the end. It was pretty brutal!! 14 miles, 2,700 elevation gain, and I took 15 minutes of my previous time. The weather was cloudy and I think that's the only reason I did so well, heat makes a huge difference. Jody did the 10K and finished strong! We ate breakfast at our Roseville halal favorite and it was an amazing weekend together- minus the roaches at the Auburn motel.

Aug. 22- Prostate Cancer Awareness 5K

This was a fun Saturday morning, minus the heat. We ran/walked with Jody's fraternity brothers and his friend Mike who is a prostate cancer survivor. It wasn't a true 5K according to my Garmin watch, so I was extra happy with the time. 21:07 with a pace of 6:49 LOL. It was more like a 8 min mile pace. I got 21 out of 227 and 4th for women.

May 30- RTO #3 Powered by Super Burritos

Very last minute I got asked and agreed to run the RTO by Karla. It was beautiful at night in Tahoe, I did leg 17 and it was 300 up and 600 down elevation gain. The moon was full and it was quite the run at 9:30 PM. It was freezing, but I warmed up quickly. My team was very nice. Everyone got along splendidly and we cheered each other on! To the point where we only got 1.5 hours sleep. Jody was a saint and picked me up in Carson. I was able to go home and get a nap and then go get the medal and cheer for Van 2. Jody got a little shot of something, we're not sure what (but the next day he went down hard sick). Overall it was a very pleasant experience! I was really lucky that Jody took me to eat at Perren after. We had eaten at Denny's and it was not yummy.

Leg 17: 9:18 PM 5.5 miles
8:58 pace

Leg 27: 6:25AM 4 miles
8:53 pace

May 17- Reno Revel

The expo was combined with a low rider show which was a plus. It was a little rushed, but we got our bibs. The morning of was FREEZING 35. AND WINDY. And we were bused EARLY and forced to huddle by a Sani-hut. It wasn't the best start to a race ( up at 3:30 to race by 6:00) but we did it. Some lady fell 2 times by me which threw me off. Running downhill at a 7:54 (and that was holding back) was another weird thing. I was happy with my results though even with all that weird stuff, 7th overall for my age group and a pace of 8:39.

Jody did AMAZING! I was super proud of him. He finished right before Rachel and ran the WHOLE TIME!! That's huge!!!
