North Valleys Egg Hunt

Did we have time? It was on the opposite end of Washoe Lake!
We made it with 2 minutes to spare!!!!!!!
WOOO!!!

Free cotton candy! Eggs that aren't hard boiled!

Let's do this!!!

Everyone did great and it wasn't old halloween candy!!! (We suspect some of the HOA did use halloween candy- kit kat wrappers had bats)
It was still good though.
Needless to say, Eli had a bit of a stomach ache by the end because he ate too much sugar!

The refreshing smell of disappointment... smells like hard boiled eggs

I've never been to Washoe Lake NV State Park even though it's basically in our backyard.

The flooding from last year has still kept the lake pretty full. Maria wanted her swimsuit to swim around the picnic table.

We took a couple Easter shots but to be honest, the colors at the lake are a bit muted and dull.

We took a little hike down to the beach and threw some rocks and sticks.

PRICELESS!!!
And then while waiting for the hunt Maria said, "I think all the eggs are hardboiled."
Me: "No!! Probably just some of them."

However upon further checking... indeed.
They were ALL HARDBOILED.

A little 5 year old boy put it best, I hope they are safe to eat and not spoiled.

Eli repeatedly said he didn't want to stay.
The girls also chimed in.

10 eggs? Thank you. We will stick with 0 I guess.
Although, we all did appreciate that it was very natural and there was no plastic waste.

And in a mob/rush to the Easter bunny he did give out a couple pieces of candies.

But overall, I was the only one who was truly amused by this Easter Egg hunt.
It was classic.

FYI We didn't stay. No one wanted to wait 20 more minutes (the time was printed wrong). And yeah.
They were hard boiled eggs.
This isn't 1960.

The golden egg tradition continues....

Papa's HOA is by far the best Easter Egg hunt every year.
This was the first year Christina was too old though.
Boo.

She was a good sport though and took Ella to find egg treasure!

Go out as far as you can out and work back in.
Yes, there is a science to it.

The Easter Bunny was even passing out large size candy bars!!! SUGA!!!!!

It did seem like there were a LOT less kids this year.
Awesome.

Who found the golden egg??
THAT'S RIGHT!!!
FAMILY HONOR!!!

Go Maria Go. (Sidenote: I truly knew in my heart she would find it. I told my dad and then 5 minutes later...)

$5 to spend in Arizona on ANYTHING!!!!!!!!

A wonderful hunt to start our festivities of the day!!

The Easter Bunny Comes

All sorts of excitement!! Goodness!!

Gum, popcorn, chocolate bunnies, stickers, books, and stranger things key chains!!

Easter Egg Time!

My life is full because of these kiddos. We were talking about how planes can crash, but that it doesn't really matter because we always live our lives the best we can, prepared as best as we can to meet our Maker, Heavenly Father.

If Thursday truly had been my last supper, I wouldn't have changed a thing. I am so grateful to sit every single night to dinner with them. Gathered together in prayer and gratitude for the food we always have before us.

Usually we do 5 dozen, but since we are going out of town, it was quite a few less.

Still fun!

Papa even stopped by!! Hooray!! We're all packed, he is not. The countdown is on!!!

Such beautiful works of art!!

New this year was food dye and rice bags. They created a nice speckled effect.

Holy Week Continued

For The Last Supper I had the kiddos choose what they would want for their last meal- Greek soup & lemon pasta.

It was humbling to think about what it would be like to know this would be the last thing you eat. And that it would be the last peaceful time with your family.

For Good Friday we went to the cemetery and cleaned gravestones for our family. It was such a gorgeous day outside. We collected pine cones and decorated naturally. We talked about the crucifixion and how even though death is sad, it is a good thing.

Classic Maria. Everyone was scattering about and Christina wants to go, so she tells Maria to come on. Maria responds, "NO!!! I'm mourning."
It was so fake and wonderful.
I love my children so much.
