6th Grade Choir Concert

This concert was everything I ever dreamed it would be. Pony tail director goes to the gym with me in the morning and I've always noticed his pony tail. Come to find out he's Eli's favorite teacher, but not. He was very serious and I can't imagine having to do what he does.

Eli was less than enthusiastic about this. It was long, off key, and horribly horrible. And yet, it was everything. It was so nice to be together as a family and mock/torture him. He really is a beautiful singer, so he was probably one of the few on key.

We got yogurt beach after and slept soundly.

Pumpkin Carving

Ward Trunk or Treat

How at 41 do I still feel like a 6 year old at times? I walked in, didn't see anyone I knew and proceeded to sit at a table by myself feeling awkward. Then I see someone I know and am no longer an outcast. It was a cold night and this would be the night the season finally changed from burning hot to frigid ice. The little kids had fun with friends, Eli was in a mood and refused to take pictures, and then I proceeded to guilt him the day after about how I'm a bad mom because I just want to remember his life when he was young. I hate Halloween and the extra sugar.

Girl Talk

Friday Night, Nom Eats, and Tea. Girls spill all. And Maria had good tea!!! My little lady, my little sassy pants in high heels kicking a soccer ball has grown up. And a nice gentleman is in the picture. Will she end up breaking his heart? More than likely.

Fall Step Challenge

It's the most not amazing time of the year again!! Every year I'm like why. Why do I do this? I think after a long, cold walk, I decided it was because I know there aren't a lot of things I can win... but this one is, so why not? So, here's to 15 miles a day. I will say the best is when I have a child to join me and talk to me and update me on how life is.

Halloween Charcuterie Board of exquisiteness

It was 6:30 and I finally got some energy back after my race. It was to be a scary movie night and we needed classy refreshment. INSERT CHARCUTERIE BOARD!!!!! Everyone was there for the snacks and the Stephen King movie, that turned out to be Steven Chobaff instead- the Imaginary friend. It wasn't too scary, more of a twisted tale. We all hoped the main character would end up a lesbian, but alas it was only hinted at. Our couch is the best. It was fun to have everyone together mocking bad acting and a completely see through plot.

2nd Saturday and a random RV Trick or Treat

I legit HUNT for activities for us to do. Most turn out crazy, ridiculous, and pointless.... but we always have the memory. Jody took the kids to the art museum while I ran an additional 5 miles in 70 degree heat after my race. Not a good idea, I felt like crap an hour later. I think I just waited to long to eat.

We had tacos in midtown, then headed south to Brad's RVs. It was  a small event, but kind of fun. The kids got a free pumpkin, some candy, and we got to check out cool RV's. Jody is thinking about his former glory RV cleaning days and is tempted to find a new job.  We also got an amazing family photo that I will treasure always, with the Brad's sign in the background.

Race time.

I am marathon trained right now. My body goes slow and steady. Not so great for a short little 5k. So all week I was trying to up my time with faster runs. It worked, I had a PR of 24:41 with a pace of 7:58 per mile. THAT IS UNDER 8 MINUTES FOLKS. I am kinda bad ass, also I'm at my highest weight I've been in for a while. I need to give up sugar, but I'm an addict. I definitely think dairy free helps with the cravings. I digress. I shot off with a 7:35 mile, Alex passed me at 1.5 miles with the ease of a giant obese gazelle. He ended up getting 3rd for men, 4th overall with a PR of 7:07 mile pace. I got 3rd for womens!! At the end this guy sprinted and I didn't know he was behind me so we tied. I was quite mad about that. Lesson learned, you see the finish line you book it... not take it easy. It was so nice to have Jody and the little kids there. When I heard their sweet voices saying, "Go Mommy!!!" it was like the sound of heaven. Their encouragement all the world.

New Driver Alert!!!

I remember when Maria was 4 and crashed the barbie jeep into Yiaya's garage. And here we are, 11 years later ON PYRAMID HIGHWAY!!! I'm like, you're doing great in the church parking lot... go big or go home!!! So she did it!!! She went big AND went home, from the church. It was stressful, but she didn't panic and didn't hit anything. Hooray. Getting the learners permit was lame. She failed the first test, did great the 2nd time. I had all the paper work but it still took upwards of 4 hours. We celebrated with bulgogi and now look forward to daily prayers being answered by God for safety. GO MARIA!!!

I don't know how we are going to afford a large van from the 80's for her, but when there is a will there is a way.

Fall Break

Fall break is one of the main reasons I teach. TIME OFF WITH MY FAVORITE CHILDREN!!!!! And it is beyond needed to recoup and refresh. The week was spent getting my teeth cleaned, kitchen sink fixed, deep cleaning, going to Tahoe, shopping, watching movies, reading, and catching up on blogging. I also got a new church calling, Primary chorister, and I'm grateful to make resources to teach. I also did a lot of gym work- I didn't break the toilet, just always impressed of the quality of a $10 a month gym. Jody is working a lot, a lot... nothing new there. And Papa helps with swim, thank goodness. It was a good week. We also got to go to Fly High with one of Eli's friends. He was pretty cool.
