Maria and the ambulance

I came home from work and was cooking dinner. I hear a blood curdling scream. Maria was outside with her friend playing basketball. She jumped and when she went up her knee became dislodged. It was completely on the side of her leg.

We called 911 right away and I held my baby as we waited through the very worst pain she's ever been in, in her life. She took deep breaths and actually dealt with it very well. She stayed calmed but you could tell by her screaming that she was definitely in pain.

The firemen came first but really couldn't do much because it had to do with bone. Once the paramedics came they gave her snorts of opioids and put her in a brace.

The little children were very scared but said prayers for her upstairs. Nina held her hand and cried.

Papa came over and helped get everyone fed and to bed.

It was not fun. The whole time Maria was asking, "Why would this happen to me?" It's a hard lesson. Bad things are a part of life.

Daddy came to the hospital and we took turns being with her. Because of Covid, only one visitor was allowed in the ER with her.

It was quite the miracle that we were able to get in and out of the ER in 2 hours. By the time the x-ray happened, her knee had gone back into place due to the pressure of the brace. They didn't even need to set it!

Afterwards, she was showered with love. Friends came by with gifts, neighbors gave her cards and money. She got flowers. Yes... bad things happen, but the outpouring of love after was such a blessing.

She is currently in physical therapy and doing better and better each day.
