Gingerbread Haunted Houses

We had a special guest come to visit our house, so we had to make sure we amped up the fun!
Hershey is one special guy... more on that later.
The girls loved decorating and creating their houses.
One thing that just stuck out like a sore thumb was how many questions they were asking me!!
Can I do this? Can I do that?
What are they teaching them at school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is art for heaven's sake. Be free to express yourselves! I banned them from asking any questions and told them they must do whatever they wanted to do, even if that meant eating 5 lbs of frosting.
Fortunately, they did not.

There's Hershey! He's such a party animal.

Pumpkin Carving 2012

Is Joe an elf? Possibly. Sometimes I wish I had photoshop...
True fact, people surgically alter their ears to have elf ears.
True fact, people are absolute morons.
Or am I the moron? Perhaps this man is true beauty and I am just a freak.
The more I stare at his flowing hair and high neck buttons, the more I tend to side to the latter.

Oooooey! Goooey!!
Tomorrow we're going to spray with bleach and wd-40 to see if they last longer.
Spooooooooooky fun!!!!

FHE- Annual Pumpkin Patch

Oh how we love the pumpkin patch! Especially how each year we need to go to the bathroom and there are only johnny on the spots, creepy darkness nightmares... then we decide to wait. Then we think we can make it home and someone tries to jump out of a moving car because others are joking around about potty hogging that person.
Ah. Thank you Lord for keeping us safe.

Ferrari farms offer just the right amount of stuff to do. We saw animals, played a ball game, explored tractors and took a great hay ride in the dark. It was just the right amount of spooky!

Eli's 1st pumpkin patch trip!!! He loved it!!

Similar? Possibly.
Baboon Howling

Hooray for the "daddycycle". He pulled us all around FAST!!  On a side note, on the way there we noticed a couple fast food restaurants. The usage of the word "Hell" starts flying. I try not to laugh, but it's hilarious. Brainwashing? I don't know about that. Let's compare it to the child at the pumpkin patch who started, "You know we can't do that. Our family is poor. POOR! And you know why. Because of Obama!! That's why!! He took all our money. And now we are sooooooooooo POOR. So that's why we're going to vote for Romney."
I wonder how many slaves employees at McHell can even afford to take their children to a pumpkin patch?
Babbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbling baboons that smile!!!!!!!

Ward Halloween Party- "We're back in business!!"

This year we found our Brave & Sleeping Beauty costumes for $5 total.
I heart thrifting.

Brave was the costume this year! Our sweet friend matched Christina, however she had the perfect red hair to go with it. I love the girls at church. I couldn't ask for a better group of friends for my ladies. I remember the first time I met Miss K. She and I hit it off right away. She is such a friendly little soul and her sister is exactly the same! Lils is like a 3rd sister to us. I hope the girls always stay this close.

Eli and his best bud Papa. My dad has been such a great help watching Elijah. I've been volunteering in Maria's kindergarten class (2 Wednesdays a month) and don't even have to bat an eyelash. He's in good hands and they always have a blast together.

The girls favorite inside activity was body painting. Hooray for Young Womens.

But the cupcake walk took a close 2nd.

This year was such a blast to watch these girls. They were maniacs!!! There must have been 15 cars to trunk or treat at and they went around 100 times at least. Maria and Miss A had their bags filled to the brim! At one point they decided to sort through the candy. The best part was that the candy they didn't like, they decided to pass out in the back of our trunk and then go around since their bags weren't full and trunk or treat some more. The excitement level on a scale of 1 to 10 was at least a 26830439854.

Tijuana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed that my folks played thriller on the iphone. We also enjoyed Hey, Hey, Hey... goodbye - to which Eli kept on waving Goodbye.

"We're back in business!!! Oh no!!! We're out!! SHUT THE TRUNK!!!!!"

Ah... candy. Sweet sweet candy.

CANDY!

CANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CANDDDYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it's not even Halloween yet.

Dia De Los Muertos Art Day at the Museum

Man. I'm loving the free 2nd Saturdays at the museum. You can't see from this picture but the floor was covered in rainbow tissue paper scraps. A docent can up and we were chatting how gorgeous it was. I told her, this is the way art should be! She responded we should pour something over the floor to make it permanent. My type of lady.

The girls made great tissue paper flowers. They needed help unfolding them though. Tissue paper is really delicate.

This was a great exhibit. A local artist has a collection of neon signs from around town and restores them. It was crazy! We had a good discussion on how art is not just paper and crayons.... even light itself can be art. I'm hoping that these trips will add a little bit of culture and refinement to their lives. We also viewed an exhibit of photography on juvenile detention centers. That was fascinating. One image that stuck out in my mind was a girl's bruised eye. The description talked about how her girlfriend and her had got in an argument. Her parents were alcoholics and how she knew she'd never be adopted.
Every image was like a slap in the face. This is what happens when families disintegrate.

We also made place mats! Elijah did his very first marker project! I was so proud of him, he didn't even put the markers in his mouth!!

It was so nice the museum laminated them for us!

The girls did a great job taking their time! It helped there were smelly markers there.
I also enjoyed the teenage volunteer boy. I narked on a small child who was touching some sugar skulls. He quickly went over and told the child not to touch. The child burst into tears and ran to his parents. The teenager looked so scared!

The highlight though were these rice paper exhibits! It was a jellyfish tree!!!
We were so excited! The detail was amazing and there were so many fun cuts. There were hidden bicycles even!

Hooray for art!!!
