Jody found super cheap tickets to Denver and surprised me with a weekend getaway. We were worried they weren't real tickets, but they were!! We had a little bit of a hassle with hiking poles and checking in luggage, but other than that it was smooth sailing. We enjoyed our morning tea and arrived at Denver in the afternoon. THERE WERE NO MOUNTAINS. IT WAS FLAT. Panem was a lie.
Driving in Denver was a little weird, "weird" being the key word of the whole trip, but we went to the REI headquarters and were amazed by the 4 stories of sheer REI stuff. Lots of brands we'd never heard of. Lots of prices that were too expensive.
We went to Berkley, where there was a little vegetarian restaurant, lots of young couples with small children and an overall fun little vibe. We ended up going to an Asian owned Greek place with delicious food that really fueled us well for the next day. We also found a used gear shop and got some fun stuff. I do have buyers remorse over not getting a coat there.
