The Emerald City- Vacation Part 3

I thought it was interesting that this statue at the temple was of a mother, her 2 daughters and son. Hopefully though, we won't wear polos in the resurrection.
It was cloudy, but no rain. Still pretty chilly.
The happy couple. Austin and Rachael.
My sister-in-law I didn't really get to talk to.
Joe and my in-laws. Step Dad Mike (Brenda's 2nd husband), Zyle and Mike Jr.
Rachael and the men folk... and her red shoes.
Seriously, the coolest people ever. Loved Austin's family. So wonderful!!!!!!
Austin's sister is a gem!!! Can't get over how fantastic she is!!
Me and the sister in laws. I find this picture awkward. Perhaps it's because I'm top heavy.
Mike's children, Joe's nephew and neice.
9-11-10.
The reception was at a totally rockin' house. Seriously. Blow your mind gorgeous. This was the woman Rachael took care of's house.
The food was sandwiches. The cupcakes were delish. And I enjoyed spending the whole evening talking with Austin's cousins from the bay area. Zyle also was suprising. I'm not really sure how to describe the whole situation with his family, I just find it awkward personally. But Zyle was awesome and came and sat by me and talked to me. He was polite and kind and easy to talk to. I hope we can get to know him better. Life has thrown so many twists and turns, hopefully we can all... I don't know. Be more than aquaintances?
A couple people from Sunnyside came. The bishop and his wife.
What would I do without this guy. Life is only worth it because I met him and have a gorgeous family with him. He's my everything.

The Emerald City- Vacation Part 4 Finale

On Sunday, we did go to church. Sacrament and Sunday School. And I don't know what it was, but it was horribly boring. From canning to anti-gay crap, we were ready to really enjoy the day. Don't get me wrong, sacrament was the best part, it just really dragged though from there. We did sit by an African investigator who thought I was Joe's mom. That was swell.
After a day of sandwiches, we were ready for Cheesecake Factory. Praise the Lord. Yum times infinity.
There's me as a white man on the monorail.
We went to a 7 story Macy's and found zilch. Then we stumbled upon the fair city's monorail and it took us to here.....
So much fun. Like the date of all dates. That stands for the Science Fiction Museum and some sort of Music Tribute Museum.
My father in law.
My Father.
Gotta love Star Trek.
Jimi Hendrix, wow. Talk about a trip. We're in this room watching him and listening to him with 10 others and it was all about unity. Talk about peace and laid back.
But the best part was the studios you could jam in for 10 minutes. We were rock stars. The drums were so much fun, I must learn how to play. Joe was in rare form and made comment of the trip, "I'm ready to quit my job and fulfill my destiny as a professional drummer."
We left the emerald city a little wiser, a little bit more relaxed and happy to see sun.

Is there anything better than Virginia City? Yes.

Jody loves Nevada History. One may ask why, but I really don't have the answer. It's just off, kind of like this.
We stopped at the look off point. Jody thought it was amazing. I thought it smelled like pee.
Shapely.

It was civil war days there... I really don't know why. We took pictures just to take pictures and make it more exciting.
Yaya was a great sport and we dragged her around. Best story: A random kind man passes by Yaya and says, "Great shirt." to which my mom says, "Thanks, I got it in India." True story except for the part where my mother's been to India.
My stunning little girl. Poor thing ended up with a tummy ache and we spent a good 30 minutes in the bathroom in the Catholic Visitors Museum.

We had a nice train ride.
A weird man freaked me out by holding his hand by my face with a plastic spider. Hooray for Virginia City and paving the way for San Francisco in gold and blood of exploited miners. (Actually the miners were paid quite well, but had to work in 140 degree mines... so was it worth it, probably not as they died)

Neil Young "Heart of Gold"... What the Cantaloupe Festival WAS NOT

Please click on this while you read the post below. I feel it will give more meaning to it as you read.

Heart of Gold Cantaloupe Festival- Fallon is Moldy Butt Fuzz

On the drive to Fallon, one will notice the landscape. Not for it's breathtaking beauty, but the fact that if one were to have moldy butt fuzz, that's what it would look like.
The sound of a "Heart of Gold" Cantaloupe Festival brought excitement. Really? A cantaloupe festival! But, as so many other events we end up at, it could be described in one picture, the one below.
Still, the locals were friendly enough.

Oooooo... Wow. Look at all the stuff. But... Where are the cantaloupe?
I guess it really doesn't matter as long as the bag man is there.
$40 later. Cough Cough. And 20 minutes later, we had a good time going down some inflatables the city of Fallon brought from Auburn, CA. Hmmmm.... did they know Reno has companies that do this also?
We decided to pass on eating at the festival.
But we enjoyed a mild thrill swing ride and a lemonade.
Yaya and Papa were good sports. We ate at a pricey restaurant there. Pardon me, a nicely painted shack. The food was good. The trip home included Maria amazed because we were driving by moon stations (according to her). It was the power plants all lit up, but it was pretty awesome because she was describing just how "the beast" (Yaya's beloved Mercury- ultimate of luxurious Grandma Cars) had flown us to space and we had to avoid aliens.

Ah Fallon. Thank you, but not. We won't be going back anytime soon.
