Somehow I roped Alex into this one. He doesn’t like heights. We drove in at night through Tioga pass and didn’t see the cliffs of death. We woke up early and hit the trail at 7:20. A bit late for us but we were worried about it being cold. It was not. It was perfect. We did great. It was hard, but not overly so. The cables were a mess of people that shouldn’t have been on them. Alex didn’t feel safe so he didn’t do them.
We met really nice hikers. Women on a get away trip to recharge, a vegan runner from Bakersfield, a hobbit that was eavesdropping, an older woman who packed to heavy and might still be up there. We were up and down in 8 hours with an hour at the cables because of dumb people who need to recognize their limits before they are halfway up.
So peaceful and soul refreshing.
