I know you love this picture Kate.
President Hinckley once said, "A happy marriage is not so much a matter of romance as it is an anxious concern for the comfort and well-being of one's companion."
I'm so blessed to have a happy marriage.
Granted, I do have moments where I could beat my spouse... but upon consideration, it's probably my attitude that's the problem.
Joe is such a uniquely wonderful person. When we first met and were dating, one evening we decided to go out in the snow at night by his apartment. It was beautiful in the silence and contrast of white snow against grey sky. A shopping cart from Smith's was covered in powder and we danced together to invincible music. Ah, love.
And yet, while we don't get to have moments like that with a newborn :) I feel like our love is so much deeper and stronger. Our love is still magical, Joe still makes my heart skip a beat.
The last couple days he's been feeling a little like he's coming down with something. And so what does he do? The dishes. And cleans the kitchen.
And the garbage? I've never once.... not once!! asked him to take out the trash. He's just always done it.
At family home evening, he gave a very good lesson on The Book of Mormon. It wasn't necessarily the activity, because we were all actually rather bored... but his spirit and enthusiasm was contagious. Maria in the middle of the lesson said, "We're so lucky to have a daddy who reads the scriptures to us. I hope I can marry someone like him." He reads to them every single night he is home. He also listens as they read the scriptures to him. He sings them hymns as they drift off to sleep. Truly, I pray my daughters can find a man who does this and that my sweet Eli will be just like him.
Joe never speaks an unkind word about anyone. He's thoughtful and loving.
Joe knows your mom, dad and brother's dead aunt's dog. He is involved in people's lives and always willing to help.
Joe has always encouraged me as a mother. As a friend. As an individual who wants to make a difference in the world.
I just feel really blessed to have the spouse I do. Thank you Joe for always being anxiously concerned for my comfort and well being.
