I'm so proud of my daughter.
I hate to be spiteful, but last year her teacher had said her writing was B quality.... yeah. Right. Christina during free time the past 2 days wrote this story. Yes. While others were doodling or picking their... noses.... my brilliant and creative tyke was painting with words.
And mind you, her spelling, punctuation, capitalization, handwriting.... spot on. I bolded parts I was "WOW"ED by or entertained by.
The Frog Star (Story 1)
Once there was a family with 4 horses. They lived in a palace. It was in the woods. The palace was made of trees. It wasn't exactly a palace, but it was very very pretty to them.
One horse was named Maria, the other horse was named Eli. The two other horses were named Cinderella and Mary.
One day, Mary found a frog on a star. Mary laughed and shouted, "Hey guys! Come here and look what I found." Eli, Cinderella and Maria came and burst out laughing just as the frog burped onto the star.
The star spoke, "HEY! What was that for!" When he spoke he shook and knocked the frog off. The star turned into a frog and fell from the sky. "GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR," growled the frog who belched on the other frog. Mary caught the frog star just before he hit the ground and teased, "You get what you get and you shouldn't throw a fit!"
The family smiled, "Today was an exciting day," Eli admitted, "But tomorrow will be better!"
The Frog Star (Story 2)
Trouble Beyond Help
"AAAAAw," yawned Maria. It was morning in frog star creek and the horse family was waking up. "AAAAAAAAAAhhhhhh," cried a familiar voice. Eli went thundering into the palace knocking the door off it's hinges. "Help! Help! Help!" he panted, "It's after me... It's!! It's... hhhhh." He collapsed breathing steadily.
Then an old horse galloped in, "Where's Eli?" she said. "Were you the one chasing him?" asked Mary. "Yes," replied the old horse, "I am Sally Snake." She began to change her fur and it turned into scales but she stayed in horse snake pose and trotted in even more. Her snake tail wrapped around Mary and she galloped away.
When Eli woke up he saw a total nightmare! Mary was gone! "MARIA!!! CINDERELLA!!!" shouted Eli. "Mary's gone!!" "What is this?" cried Cinderella, "I was just getting to the good part of my dream." But she stopped in her tracks when she realized Eli was not joking. "Maria come look at this," Cinderella said sternly. "Don't boss me.... oh no!" cried Maria. Ever since Mary caught the frog star she brought good luck to everyone around her.
"Well," said Eli, "I guess we have to find her." So they set off to find Mary. The looked in every snake hole until they came to a cave with a smell that smelt sweet, just like Mary. When they went in they found Mary alone. Her hooves were tied, but they untied them and galloped out of the cave.
Mary told them her story without detail:
Once upon a time, a snake horse sorcerer captured me, tied me up, and put me in a cave. She said something about stew and then you guys came.
"Well," said Eli, "We better move to another home." And they did. They lived happily ever after,
