Cephalonia!!! Yiaya's Island

Leaving Santorini was a bit of a joke. The rental car agency got in a fist fight with Jody. Not really, but they were trying to charge us for the dented car they gave us. Total scam. Jody was quite upset about it. I didn't even try because Greece does not value women or their opinions.

Santorini airport has 400000000000 million people leaving and coming in at a time and there are not enough places to sit! Plus the bathroom was super nasty. We were a little glad to be leaving the tourist trap and going Cephalonia. Every single flight we took in Greece was delayed by at least an hour. There is very little air conditioning or air flow in the airports, so travel days take a lot out of you.

We ended up in Cephalonia, and fortunately I had booked a rent a car in Santorini to pick up at the airport. I had accidentally booked a manual car. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW THAT HAPPENED!!!!!

The lady was so nice, she was truly an angel, and was able to get us an automatic. We wouldn't have been able to drive a manual car in those hills!!!

The airport in Cephalonia was much cleaner and nicer than Santorini. The rental didn't have enough room for our bags and everyone, so Jody took a couple bags and said he'd get a taxi and meet us. We had no problems getting to the beautiful Airbnb. But Jody did!! He hopped in a cab and they couldn't find it. THE CRAZY THING is the guy was from the village my Yiaya was, Agia Thekli!!! He told us to come for pizza at his wife's restaurant. We never had time, but I thought that was cool because her village is not that big at all.

We headed out for some food. We were all starving. Our Airbnb was in a place called Svoronata. We loved it there. It was 10 minutes away from the airport and pretty central to traveling around the island. We headed south and found a great restaurant called (). The service was really good, but it was super hot. We were in the sun, in the inside, and it literally was just cooking us. The food was good, but more fried than I was used to and kind of like dishes they thought foreigners would like instead of authentic Greek food. Our waitress gave us a board game and 3 of the best beach bags just because!!! So thoughtful and kind. We were very grateful. Those bags turned out to be the best for the beach!

We took it easy and got some groceries at a store called Lidel. They had shopping carts all locked up and I had to watch to see what others were doing. You insert a Euro and it unlocks and when you put it back it gives you your money. It was quite the system!! Smart!! The grocery store was huge, lots of people, and so much to look at!!

So far it was looking like Cephalonia was the place to be. The land was beautiful, the island huge, and there were TREES!!! Finally trees!!! There was a constant buzzing of cicadas the entire time. I will say, the bugs were not the children's favorite. In fact there was a spider in the rental car, panic, and Ella ended up shoved and injured because of the fear.

We ended the night with some swimming, Netflix (STRANGER THINGS SEASON 4!!!!), and a good nights sleep!!! The Airbnb was perfect, so spacious and comfortable!!! The air conditioning worked AMAZING.
