Day 2 in Mykonos consisted of RELAXING!!! We spent more time lying poolside, gathering pebbles at the private beach, and working on the tan/skin cancer. We weren't exactly sure how to get around, so we decided on Jay getting a rent a car and we would get an ATV. It worked out quite nicely, although Eli hated driving in Mykonos because there was A LOT more traffic and the drivers drove fast and without rules.
We had a great lunch at the villas we stayed at. There was a blind cat that was territorial and fighting with other cats while we ate. It scared Eli and Ella. Another black cat that Christina fell in love with, she named MGK. The cats were everything to the Greeks, even though they were mangy and feral.
As it neared dinner time, we headed to downtown Mykonos, also known as Chora or Old Town. The traffic was CRAZY. The parking lot had a gross, shaggy dog that they found on the streets and adopted. There was no parking and they were taking cars and just shoving them in. At least it was a very short walk to town from the parking lot.
Once you enter Old Town, it's like another world. The buildings are completely white, there are cobblestone streets, the colors of the goods are vibrant, there are throngs of people dressed in white with their leather huaraches. My mother loved her leather sandals, and now I know why. They are HUGE in Greece. There is a leather shoe store every 10 feet. Of course they are expensive, at least $50 a pair.

We walked to the windmills and I swear by doing things early in the morning or late at night. We weren't burning hot and the mood is one of excitement, happiness, and festivity. There are stringing lights everywhere and the restaurants are just packed. Even with so many people, we were able to move about easily and see the center town church. After exploring we settled on a taverna where we were seated in the garden. It was gorgeous. It was late. There was a bachelorette party with a girl in her bridal dress and another party celebrating an anniversary. Everyone was so happy and just enjoying each others company.
We were doing the same! Good food, good conversation, and all under a Greek midnight sky. Needless to say we passed out easily. I hung some laundry to dry in the dark winds (there are no dryers) and could only think of my Yiaya and how she hung her laundry in her backyard.... every SINGLE LOAD!!!
