Sojouner Truth Museum- Joe's Birthday

Let me tell you. I have a few things that irked me about this day. The first is that not a lot of people have respect for African American Culture, including African Americans. Now, it's the capital Sacramento, and you'd think there would be a nice tribute to Sojourner Truth. But no, it's in the most ghetto area and in a dirty building with WIC, Anger Management, AA... etc.

That being said, it was beautiful art. Murals and Murals of talent, talent, talent. I just think it's a shame that it is where it is.
We were planning on just driving home but were too tired, so we stopped overnight in Sacramento. In the morning we woke up and "tried" for an adventure doing new things... to which I had a hard time because I like the old routine. But it was Jody's birthday, so I tried my best.
Another irk was some of the people depicted in the mural as heroes or role models: Tiger Woods, Chris Brown and Rhianna??, Various Rap Artists, Rev. Jesse Jackson cheater/Lincoln hater....

We did have wonderful tour guides. The teenagers presented the murals and were very nice.
Overall it was a nice day, none of the restaurants we went to sang to Jody. Boo. But 67 years ago my husband was born and it was one of the greatest days in history because he's just plain fantastic. He's my Si Se Puede. He's my reason everyday is happy and OK. Fun things that I love about my husband:
1. He once cried at Grey's Anatomy
2. He thinks Robert Pattinson is a superb actor. If superb means trash.
3. He plumbs.
4. He drove a geo metro (notice my refusal to capitalize) in high school.
5. He stereotypes Indian people.
6. He is missing an organ.

And I'll end there because that last thought saddens my soul. We came home, had 87 cent tacos, cake and slept really well! Thanks daddy for a great vacation!!

Pismo Beach - Albequerque Gone Astray Vacation Part 2

Pismo is a place where Joe spent a lot of time as a young man. It was a refuge. It was a place of sanity amidst a world of....well, it's up to Joe to write a book and end up on Oprah, not me.

We love the sand!

The girls at first were a little apprehensive of the water/waves... after 2 minutes, they were in and loving it!

Man. 100% Boogie Man.

We enjoyed the 2nd best clam chowder ever at Splash Cafe. 1st place will always be Uncle Hobey's... hands down.
And an end to such a lovely day... eating bugs? Eeeeew!!! They had crickets, scorpions, ants, butterflies.... the girls were thoroughly grossed out.

Highway 1- America's Most Beautiful and Curvy/Dangerous Crap Road Ever

Yeah, it's official. My daredevil days are gone. Hasta Luego roller coasters and cocaine parties. Sans cocaine.... I couldn't even handle driving on this beautiful road. Don't get me wrong... it was STUNNING. And I really am Ok with dying, but I just really want my girls to have long lives. Although I'm completely fine with God's will, may it always be done. Why don't I babble some more? Point: Highway 1, way to dangerous for my taste, especially the drop offs and no shoulders. I think 50 miles took us 3 hours because of the fog and fact you can't drive more than 15 miles around the curves. So I've done it once in my life and can say I'll stick to CA-101 or I-5 from now on!! God bless 70 MPH speed limits.
The rent-a-car from priceline we saved $490 on. Hooray for bidding!

I know. Awesome.

G to the Ilroy Gardens!!! Woot Woot!! Albequerque Vacation Gone Astray Part #1

We drove at night and the 4 1/2 hour drive was quick! No traffic, smooth sailing. Love Cali when there's nobody on the road!

The paddle boats were our favorite! It was really peaceful, even though it was hot!

The girls could have rid the carousel at least 100+ times. I love the mini one where we don't have to ride! Side note: Always ride the big one with your children. Wait, backup. Side note Morons: Always ride the big one with your children. Fortunately I was with my children and able to help a little boy who was completely dangling from the side as the ride started, screaming... He had gotten out of his belt while no one was looking. If a parent would have been there it wouldn't had been a problem... AND they didn't even say thanks. Yeah. I'm not angry. Obviously.

Weight limit 250 lbs. Pushin' it Shroom style.

I seriously hope this 11 minute horicultural themed veggie production posts.
Good thing we wore our swimsuits! The water park was open inside and quite fun!
Waterfalls still the favorite!

Over the summer they have popular children's characters come! We were first in line to give hugs.
As you can see, not too crowded. LOVE IT!!! We ride the rides as many times as we want!

Close tie with the carousel- the up and down goldfish in circles ride.

Goodbye Gilroy!! We love you! We love your garlic! We love horticulture!!! We will be back, seeing as we have season passes (purchase the full price day admission ticket, get whole season free..... ya can't beat that one! Plus it's open until November!!)

Recent Quotes/Fun Stuff to remember

At Fiesta Mexicana (Hooray for $0.89 tacos!) there is a poster of a girl who is dressed immodestly by a beer bottle. Christina says, "She is totally immodest. What is she even by? She's probably just drinking COCAINE." (emphasis on Cocaine)
When Christina goes down the big slides at Wild Water she stiffens her entire upper body, makes fists with her hands and wiggles her butt side to side... kind of like a little psych yourself up bit. We chant for her as she goes, it's just a total pump up session. Very fun and as she comes down the slide, Maria will clap her hands and chant, "Go Nina Go! Go Nina Go Go!!"
Maria met a boy at the top of the water slide and they had a conversation for 3 minutes. She started twirling her hair and stuck her hips out to the side. Yeah...
...
...
We watched Mysteries of the Nile at the planetarium and I asked Christina is she could remember any prophets having to do with Egpyt to which she promptly replied, "Joseph of the 12 tribes of Israel and Moses." Boo ya.
