Aug. 23- Kindergarten Magic

This has been an adjustment! Kindergarten has been amazing and also exhausting at the same time. It's a completely different age and while some kids are very functional, others are still learning. I have a little one who called Ariel (my aide) a bitch ass.... I have another one who threw a screaming fit over spilt water, like she completely didn't understand that when you throw your water bottle on the ground it will spill.... But even in 2 weeks I already see amazing progress. I see them willing and able to learn. I see them excited to learn and work hard. And already I can tell that it will be a good year. I just need to not get any more kiddos. A new one a day adds a lot of stress.

We did have a kindergartener die as well. He was in Cheri's class. It's tragic. It was a hit and run and is still under investigation. It's been a hard start for sure.

We've also been having pretty bad wild fires. We were almost in an evacuation zone and certain schools didn't start for a week. Now a new fire has started, the temple is right by the burn zone as well as other's we know who live in the area. Our prayers go out for them to stay safe.

Aug. 10 - Stallion and Bug Fire

Not only was it the first week of school, we had fires raging around us where we were almost put on evacuation orders. It was a bit much and when the weekend rolled around, it was nice to have clear skies. They are cutie pies, we are learning each other's vibes. Thank goodness no violent behaviors.

Aug. 9- I didn't get 1st day Pictures of My Kiddos

The week before school and the 1st week was long and a hard adjustment. Everyone had a great first day and week, however I was in bed by 7:30 every night as a matter of survival. I'm excited for my class, but it is definitely an adjustment and a change. I danced in the rain with children, had students in my lap, had a girl calling the other teacher a b*tch. Sometimes I wish I could just work from home. But I'm also so glad to do what I do. It's a heavy mix of emotions. My sweet Rosie is at Glen Duncan and I'm getting her a snack box. Change is hard.

Aug. 5- Glenn Duncan Back to School Prep

It is exhausting putting together a room, going back to work, and then dealing with the worry that you don't even have students but you're exhausted. I'm nervous to start at a new school, with new coworkers. Everyone seems wonderful.
I do have this feeling that this is where God wants me to be. I felt directed here. I feel like teaching is my calling, and I also feel like I can't do it without His divine help.
My family was so supportive as I went back the week before. Maria had cooked dinner. Everyone helped to clean at home. Jody even got me a new pair of shoes. (They didn't fit, but it was so very thoughtful).

June 9- Hello Glen Duncan!!

And just like that, my room was packed up and the troops were loading up to help me move!! I would have DIED without them. Especially Ella who spent days helping me organize the chaos. A huge shout out to Luna who loaded up her truck and got my bookcase over and Jose and Chen who had my room completely cleaned out within 30 minutes.
