Oh man, the minute we got in our apartment in Athens, we were ASLEEP!!! It wasn't the most comfortable as far as mattresses went, but we had PLENTY of space. We couldn't figure out the water heater, so the first night we all had cold showers. We also got quite a few mosquito bites. Poor Maria and Nina were covered by the first week.
It was a lovely apartment though. We had balconies, air conditioning, and were very central to grocery stores and more importantly... bakeries. We could drink the tap just fine. We were about a 7-10 minute walk to the Metro, Larrissa Station on the Red Line.
It was a peaceful area of Athens with great food. We had a favorite bread shop we went to where the owner would give us 10 free things each trip. I can honestly say, 90% of Greeks are the most generous people on earth. The cab and van drivers are the other 10% and not so much awesome. Jody quickly made friends with the man of the shop and the pink hair lady adored Eli and Ella. We loved their olive oil bread, sweet nutella bread, and everything melted in your mouth!! Breakfast in Greece is not a big thing, so we enjoyed our morning bread, fresh eggs, tomatoes and feta.
Everywhere we went there was orange trees and cats!!
