We arrived around 11:30 PM in Copenhagen. Wow. Welcome to order and lines and government.
Quite the contrast from "lawless Greece" as Saul put it. We found our room and it was amazing. 10 bunks for all us of in 1 shared room. We could do this! Sure we had farting, giggles, and were beyond tired. But we could do this.
Except Maria goes to the bathroom and the power shuts off. She wasn't happy.
I went down to the lobby 2 times. Each time our power went off. Finally a nice young Sweede came up to help. I introduced him as our friend and he said, "Americans use that term very freely. We just met."
He ended up seeing that my power chord was shorting out the fuse so I just had to not plug in my phone.
12:45AM we can finally go to bed.
But!! We're in COPENHAGEN RIGHT!!! So the party animals of the party animals wake up and Me, Joe and Ella enjoy the magnificent hotel breakfast and set out on a 3 hour adventure because we have our connecting flight home. Everyone slept but we headed out on a bike ride across the city to the LDS temple, a park, and the beautiful river. We even rode through a cemetery! It was stunning. We stopped for some ice cream, a famous hot dog (I was impressed and I don't eat hot dogs), and a couple pairs of thick socks!! It was quite the city!! NO NOISE!!!! Everyone bikes and it's so calm and peaceful. It was the complete opposite of Athens. I definitely need more time in this city!! So until next time, I'm beyond grateful for our bike ride and the one screaming Dane who was out of place.
We should have gotten snacks at the airport because the flight home WAS LONG. WE WERE DEAD TIRED. No one could sleep. We made it back to SFO, hopped in and started driving. We were starving so we stopped in Vacaville. I was starting to wane and had to buy COKE to keep me up. Haven't done that in 20 years. God blessed us and we dropped off Saul and didn't see him for a month after because he was done with us.
We came home to a bird in the house. Got the bird out gently.
And slept for 50 years.
