First Day of School Pics

The first day of school!
Ella - 3rd
Elijah- 6th Middle School
Maria- 10th Grade Sophmore
Mommy- 4th year 1st Grade

We have quite the morning caravan!! Thanks to Papa and Jody, everyone is where they need to be each day. I decided to have Ella at Kate Smith this year because she had been assigned to a teacher I didn't favor at Van Gorder. So far, everyone really enjoys school... OK, maybe that's a stretch. But everyone is happy and learning.

I love my new co-teacher in 1st, Olivia. She is absolutely phenomenal and we get along great.

More 1st Day of School Pics

Daddy was so great and got everyone doughnuts. It wasn't too fancy on my part because I was so stressed about what to expect. We ended up having school off and on for 2 weeks. It was a circus because of smoke from several CA fires. The air quality has been SO BAD.

School this year consists of being a prison basically. But oddly enough, we are still managing and having fun.

2 parents at my school have tested positive for COVID but we continue to teach. The students are just required to take 14 days off school. I will say my room is nice and clean. The facilities have been working really hard.

Ella has been struggling a little going to a different school. But she is so advanced compared to my students... it makes sense to continue to push her more.

I hate masks. I got a doctor's note to wear a face shield at work but unfortunately the noise reverberates so badly that I'd rather wear the mask. We are constantly we chided if our masks are not on the right way.

Eli is loving his teacher. He wanted to buy her flowers and a starbucks gift card. She is pretty amazing. Currently she not only has to teach her class but distance learners too. I lucked out, after 2 weeks we hired a seperate distance learning teacher for K and 1st. We were doing live sessions on teams... it was so unbelievably stressful. Now we are just teaching the ones in class but it's not ideal. Everyone is socially distanced and it's a completely flipped of what we used to do. Not to mention the playground. My heart can't even bear to see our kids have a slab of concrete. Fortunately they do well finding pinecones and twigs and stuffing them down a storm grate during recess.

Jody has been dealing with quite a bit of stress too. We're not sure what the solution is.

More Back to School

Loved all the backpacks the kiddos chose this year.

It's a tradition I think. The kids love their apple doughnuts. And of course a nice healthy breakfast!

Marvel! Dinosaurs!

Thank goodness I still have this little bean to color with, read barbie books together (in which Ella full on swoons and sighs), and play lego girls who love to sing and dance.

Quote, "What the frick?!?!"

First days of school are always hell. The chaos of supplies, getting to the right destination, the oodles of people...

Nina started the day off right with her first day of seminary. Her teacher recently had a stroke and was shot at with a gun.

High school was a zoo of course. Totally crammed packed with kids. Fortunately she was able to find all her classes, ate lunch with Lily, and was not mauled by any boys.

Did I mention she forgot her lunch?
And then I accidentally fell asleep and was 20 minutes late picking her up.
Plus she didn't have paper.

Fun first day times.

Maria had a lousy day. She felt like she had no friends and ended up pretty panicky.

We had to revisit our worry book and go over techniques to calm ourselves. Which was really helpful for me too.

She is so special, I know with time everything will work out.

Eli's teacher rocks. He did a dinosaur cake art project with a T-Rex that was hit by meteorites. There was a volcano too that was hit by the meteorites which were the sprinkles on the cake.

Also, he did a self portrait.

Yes. THANK YOU JESUS!!!!

Plus he made a new friend.

Ella said school was boring. Yet she loves to go.
So.....

School!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish it was still summer!!!!!!!!!!!

But the hour of peace was really nice too, not going to lie.
