Lake Tahoe

Sometimes you don't need to go anywhere for vacation. Staying at home is good.
With Lake Tahoe just a hop, skip, jump away... we piled in the car and partied all day.
From 9am-8pm
It's funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn in the sunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Bless you Papa for the SPF70. NO BURNS!!!!!!!!

Love this face.

And this face.....

My gorgeous super models.

Thea Popi and Aunt Jackie!

Why were my children in the freezing cold water constantly????

We ended the day with Whole Foods and a sigh of exhaustion. It's days like this that are heaven on earth.

The Elks!

I really need to scan some pictures of the time we had 8th grade graduation at the Elk's pool.
Aidida's jackets in the summer. Big bangs. Good wholesome ghetto fun.
Thank you Dilworth.
Shiver.

15 years laters. Swimming with cousin fun!!

It was such a treat to have lil' Eli fall asleep in my arms. He literally melts my heart. He is the sweetest baby and fills my soul. Holding him is holding heaven in my arms.

Uncle Angelo!!!!!!!!!!!! Good thing we ran into them at Costco!!

Cousins!!!!!!!!!!!

Aunty Pam & Aunty Sheila Come to Visit!

Man oh man! We have the very best Aunties EVER!!!! They are so much fun, so beautiful and just rays of sunshine. We had a great time with them even though it was only for a couple of days.
I'm not sure how many card games were played..... it was a lot! We learned how to play crazy 8's and sometime in the near future Aunty Sheila will teach us how to play poker. The girls loved watching their Aunts put on make-up in the morning. They even got special lotion like them!

We went to Scheel's and I got to ride the ferris wheel with my lovelies. It's been awhile! Christina started to freak out and in doing so freaked out Maria before the ride by saying she didn't want to fall or get stuck on the top.  I reassured her with talks of experiments and how they have to test equipment multiple times before they release it to the public... one because they don't want people to get hurt and two because they don't want to get sued. She was worried about the signs that say don't rock. In fact she has been all about warning signs lately and taking them very seriously. "MOM! Watch out for falling rocks the next 10 miles! I really hope a rock doesn't fall on us. Are we past 10 miles yet?" or "Maria!! Keep your eye out for deer the next 6 miles."
I would also be a total scab if I didn't mention one of the greatest gifts my husband spoiled me with of all times. A week ago I had noticed some really nice... super luxurious padded flip flops. They were $32. Hello. Left kidney.
However, when we went with our Aunts they just happened to be on sale for $24.
He rushed to the counter and got them for me.
When all is said and done, I'd like to be buried in these flip flops. I know they may not match by temple clothes, so perhaps they can just be stuck on the side somewhere in my coffin.
It's literally like walking on sunshine.
Thanks hon-nay. If only I were as classy as you. But I'm not.
I'm cheap.
There. It's been said.
And I am having buyers remorse because really who pays that much for flip flops.
But I don't want the remorse to ruin my joy, so I'll just deal with it. If I'm able to wear them for 12 years it will pan out great.
We ran/walked carefully through the water fountains. Fun! Fun! Fun!! And since our clothes were soaked Yaya and Papa bought the girlies super cute matching outfits from the Gymboree outlet.
Always holding hands and being love bugs. Seriously.
They are best friends and just the kindest little souls.
Peace. Love. Surf.
Too cute!!!
Thanks Yaya and Papa!!
Hooray for family!!!!!

Fantastic stories from Aunty Sheila include:
The H Family/Griswalds go on Vacation

*One time Uncle Hobie took the family camping. They were in a huge RV on a little road. With cliffs and steep drop offs inches away. Somehow they made it to their campsite without tumbling down the ravines. They enjoyed themselves and were sitting around the bonfire when Uncle Hobie decided the fire wasn't big enough. He got a can of gasoline and decided to feed the flames. Well, the fire certainly did get bigger! In fact it spread in the arc of the gasoline back to the can he was holding and then the can exploded! Fortunately he was only burned on his hand and had to sleep with it in a bucket of ice overnight. Then grandpa was picking at a scab on his leg and it started squirting out blood... literally squirting out. There was a rug that was soaked with blood.
Fun times!

* One time they went toward an area of the Bermuda triangle. They had a guy drop them off at an island and then return in 2 hours when they were done snorkeling. There were 3 islands so they decided to swim to the next island. Pretty far from shore a squall suddenly blows in. They are swimming and cant see a thing. They don't know where land is, they dont know where sea is. Erin, who is about 10 at the time is starting to panic and cry. Sheila somehow manages to get her close to shore when she hears Dustin scream for help! Uncle Hobie had had a heart attack earlier and wasn't fully recovered. The storm and swimming were just too much for him, so 12 year old Dustin was pulling him to shore and starting to go under. Sheila rushed over and they managed to stay alive.
Hoooooooooooooooray!

* One time in Hawaii Uncle Hobie decided he wanted to teach Dustin about canoe safety. He thought they were close enough to shore where he could tip the boat and have Dustin experience what would happen. Well, they weren't close enough to shore and Uncle Hobie tipped the boat and whacked his head in the process. Aunty Sheila rushed out from the beach, managed to help Dustin (who was about 4 at the time... no life vest) and then get Uncle Hobie to shore too. He had a huge concussion and had headaches for the rest of the trip. They also lost the boat. But then someone found it.

Uncle Hobie was/is the best. His zest for really living was fabulous and he is the most hilarious person ever. It was so good to talk about him and reminisce.

* Uncle Hobie had an infection in his foot. He put a diaper on it to go swimming in a pool. Well, the diaper fell off (it was bloody) and people started screaming!! The pool was cleared out in 10 seconds flat!!

SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Himay's 36!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Himay is super excited to be 36 and so are we. This is the year he will marathon, not get a tattoo and avoid bath salts.
He started his morning with a hike. My dad and Christina accompanied him and Christina is quite the mountain goat. She made it all uphill for 2 miles.
Afterwards we opted for a lil' sun, surf and dirt.

Eli didn't get burned!! Hoooooooray!!!

The way to truly enjoy a cracker.

We ended the day with a trip to Whole Foods.... yum. Himay chose a wheat grass shot for his birthday cake. He was disappointed. $4.50 and it tasted like.... wheat grass. So we decided to head to Dairy Queen and spend $4.50 to get everyone a cone.
No wonder America is obese. It's just cheaper.

Anyways. I love my husband. He was the best choice I ever made in life. I'm so glad that we got to celebrate his birthday and that we get another 2 weeks with him for vacation!!!
Yeeeeeeaaaah Summer!!!!!

Happy Father's Day!

We're sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo blessed to have the Daddy we do!!!
And our Papa too!!

Melio Waterpark

Joe's frat had a very nice bar-b-que at Lazy Five. It was great because we got to take the kiddos over to the water park and they are ALL definitely water babies! I think it was my first "frat" event too. Slowly but surely perhaps I'll come around to the idea. Or not. Either way I'll try harder.

One thing I wasn't planning on was the flood of memories that came back at Lazy Five. It was one of the last places I was able to breastfeed baby Joe. I used Ram's nursing cover. It was warm. It was peaceful. It was at dusk. Is it weird I can still remember the feel of his body against mine when I held him? I miss him.
It's still sad. However, today I was babysitting a little boy who was born one month before Joe and I kept trying to picture Joe as a 3 year old but all I could think was it's not time yet. I'll get to see him grow, I have no doubts. Life is as it should be. Because God's in control.
